Welcome to Materialistics

The Materialistics are a group of knitters and stitchers, ranging from novices to experts, who enjoy practising skills in creative ways, using recycled materials whenever possible.
It all began in 2009 during the Coat for a Boat project commissioned by The Customs House, South Shields. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we decided to form a group and continue to produce exhibitions. We meet every Saturday morning at the Customs House, South Shields, and every Wednesday afternoon at Cleadon Library.
Links have been established across the north east region with community groups that include ethnic minorities, the elderly, the socially disadvantaged and the disabled.
Our current exhibitions are:
A Grand Tour
Santa's Grotto and Winter Wonderland

Previous exhibitions and projects are:
A Victorian Christmas
Once Upon A Time
A Cosy for a Cab
Follow the Herring
